New Detour of Westbound Chanate Road, May 17 – September 2021
Westbound traffic on Chanate Road between Terra Linda Drive and Humboldt Street will be detoured starting on Monday, May 17 and continuing into September, 2021. This detour is being implemented to allow for installation of a large sewer pipeline under Chanate Road. The westbound closure of that section of Chanate Road also applies to bicyclists and pedestrians. When possible, motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians should avoid the general area of construction throughout the project.
Westbound traffic on Chanate Road will be detoured north onto Parker Hill Road, then southwest onto Fountaingrove Parkway, continuing to Bicentennial Way/Mendocino Avenue (see map below). For your safety, all traffic control signs and measures must be observed. During the detour, one-way travel in the eastbound direction of Chanate Road will remain open.
The City of Santa Rosa understands that this detour may cause an inconvenience to many – however, it is necessary for the safety of the public and the construction crews during this substantial work. The detour schedule is subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
Single Lane Traffic Control on Upper Chanate Road May 7 – May 13
Single lane traffic control is being implemented on Chanate Road from Humboldt Street to approximately 2755 Chanate Road (about 200 feet west of Terra Linda Drive), to allow for sewer line installation. This traffic control will be in place starting today (May 7) and continuing through Thursday, May 13, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Flaggers will be stationed on site to coordinate the safe movement of each direction of traffic through the traffic control area. Please be aware of all signage, follow direction of flaggers, and use extra caution. Expect traffic delays – consider an alternate route if possible.
Sewer Work on Lomitas Avenue May 17 – May 20
Sewer line work is scheduled for Monday, May 17 – Thursday, May 20 on Lomitas Avenue from Chanate Road to approximately the Paulin Creek Bridge. During this work, there will be no through-traffic on Lomitas Avenue. On-site crews will coordinate access for residents on that street.
Pipeline Work on Private Drive Off Lomitas Avenue May 21 – May 28
Pipeline installation is scheduled on the private drive off of Lomitas Avenue between Lomitas Lane and Chanate Road, for May 21 through May 28. This work will primarily impact the residents on that driveway from 2841 through 2863 Lomitas Avenue (excluding 2850). There will be delayed access for the residents there as the pipeline installation will be taking place in the middle of the driveway. Crews will work to minimize the disruption, and full access will be available after hours and on the weekend. Residents should consider parking on Lomitas Avenue early on the scheduled work days, for unhindered use of their vehicles.
